Sometimes I think things
No one should
The Unforgiving Current
Sweeping me away
From the light that illuminates
Everything I've ever known
And I ask myself
Who should I believe?
I stand here alone
Beneath the shadow of all things
And I feel so small
A teenage ghost laughs in the distance
Oh how you've let us down he says
Oh how you've changed
Now and then I try
To drown myself in you
It's the only thing
That even moves me anymore
When I'm sailing through
The current works against me
It's the only thing
That even moves me anymore
Sometimes I say things
I didn't think I could
The heavy fog around me
Clouding my head
And in the light of a new day
Beneath the power lines
I hear you say
Everything is different
And who am I to disagree

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
