Drifting back to shore
Is this really my home anymore?
I've barely unpacked my books from the hall
I spend some time away, feel I'm finally doing ok
But I fucked this up again, what can I say?
You will in time remember me and realise
The future you need won't be with me. It's no surprise
Stop in time at the highest point of us
Watch this back again
Frozen now looking up below the ice
This must be the end
I've seen that look before
The death of all this once so sure
This house never knew what we had in store
I think about the day
A thousand miles fade away
but I've lost you now for good, what can I say?
You will in time remember me and realise
The future you need won't be with me. It's no surprise
Stop in time at the highest point of us
Watch this back again
Frozen now looking up below the ice
This must be the end

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
